The Technical Writer will provide support to Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) Enterprise Systems and Services (ES2) initiatives on the Marine Corps Systems Command Network Communications Infrastructure (NCI) program.
The Technical Writer will be responsible for collecting and organizing information required for preparation of technical documents, training materials, guides, and reports. They will provide technical edits to project documentation, leveraging strong writing, editing, and communication skills to analyze and present complex information in a format that is easy to read and understand. Develop high-quality documentation with minimal guidance that is easy to understand, easy to use, meeting Marine Corps Style Guide standards, and meets objectives and goals for the intended audience. Prepares, reviews, revises, and maintains all project documentation, including but not limited to: Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Installation and Configuration Guides, System Requirements Specifications (SRS), Test Plans, Descriptions/Procedures, and Reports. Travel may include events such as Physical Configuration Audits. They will also maintain the current internal documentation library. The Technical Writer will also be responsible for providing proposal planning, writing, and editing support for request for proposals; will be expected to participate in various team meetings and gate reviews. The Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively both written and orally, have the ability to convey technical material to a non-technical audience, be a detail oriented, well organized, self-starter, able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and capable of performing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Must be able to interface with program stakeholders and team members at all levels.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience.
Demonstrable proficiency in multiple word processing and presentation tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Experienced in the utilization of a documentation management tool such as SharePoint.
Capable of understanding, interpreting, and synthesizing technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and multiple available sources into technical writing.
Capable of managing several different tasks from several different requestors simultaneously.
Demonstrated oral/written communications and government customer facing skills.
Be open to continuous learning and committed to on-going self-improvement.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience supporting Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), the United States Marine Corps (USMC), or the United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM).
Experience in the telecommunication field to include knowledge of the installation, service and maintenance of telephone, network, and related telecommunications infrastructure.
Experience with a configuration management tool such as CMPRO.
Focus on deliverables and be able to work within tight deadlines.
Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
