MedTrust Medical Transport Collections Specialist in Hanahan, South Carolina
Our organization is looking for a Collections Specialist who can help us achieve our company financial goals. The Collections Specialist will be responsible for reviewing each account to determine the best way to approach the claim, and then executing their plan to bring in the maximum amount of revenue. The ideal candidate for this position is able to work as part of a dynamic team, and able to work in an environment where work assignments change frequently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research each account using company records and Internet resources that are made available
Conduct collections on each claim that consist of phone calls and standard mail correspondence
Develop collections methods that consistently lead to achieving or exceeding company financial goals
Work closely with team members to create ways to bring in revenue and find success as a group
Solve problems quickly and create resolutions that bring in revenue on a regular basis
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICIATIONS AND SKILLS
High school diploma/GED required
Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results
Strong communication and negotiation skills
1+ years’ customer service experience preferred
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE
This position reports to the Billing Supervisor and the Director of Revenue Cycle. Indirectly reports to the Operations Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires frequent sitting, occasional walking, standing, stooping, bending and twisting of the neck, bending and twisting from the waist, and reaching overhead. This position requires frequent fine manipulation and simple grasping of both right and left hands (e.g. typing, holding telephone receiver, and utilizing writing implements.) This position requires occasional lifting of no more than 50 lbs. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus.
COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS: This position requires the ability to compare, analyze, copy, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize and evaluate. This position requires strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and/or percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Temperature controlled office environment of quiet to moderately quiet sound level.
