ProSphere Tek Cyber Security Engineer 2 in Charleston, South Carolina


ProSphere is seeking an Engineer/Scientist to perform as a Cyber Security Engineer. He/she will take direction from team leads in performing tasks, activities, and reporting in the information technology arena. The main area of expertise should be in Cyber Security protection of networks and systems. The Cyber Security Engineer requires information technology experience in the methods, procedures, and actions required to secure information systems hardware and software against malicious and damaging attacks. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with NIST special publications, specifically NIST SP800-53. Should have experience in the technology and techniques to protect highly sensitive systems. This experience should include at least of one (1) year of technical experience in support of Cyber Security/network protection or virtualization projects. This is a full-time position located in Charleston, SC. Veterans are encouraged to apply.


  • Perform cyber security scanning for medical information and business systems

  • Provide systems analysis and reporting based on scanning results

  • Perform vulnerability assessments on computers, laptops and servers

  • Provide recommendations on related vulnerability assessments

  • Perform testing on recommended solutions for vulnerability remediation

  • Provide input to Risk Based Decisions (RBD)

  • Create Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMS) related to RBDs


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Physics, Network Security, or Computer Science

  • Three (3) years of engineering experience related to communication, computer, radar, or similar systems

  • One (1) year of technical experience in support of Cybersecurity/network protection or virtualization projects

  • Advanced degrees in appropriate area substitute for experience as follows: Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) – five (5) years of experience; MS or ME in appropriate area – two (2) years of experience

  • Demonstrated ability to provide input to technical/engineering teams

  • Ability to multi-task across several complex task assignments involving diverse engineering disciplines

  • Excellent written and oral communications commensurate with management role

  • Must currently have an active Secret level security clearance adjudicated by DoD and listed in JPAS

  • Ability to work overtime required on occasion

  • Travel may be required

  • Remote and on-call responsibilities may be required

  • Ability to sit at a workstation for long periods of time
