City of Charleston Accounting Technician in Charleston, South Carolina

Job Description

Processes daily disbursements and reviews for accuracy according to City procedures, reporting any issues or discrepancies immediately. Compiles, organizes and files supporting documentation for disbursements. Researches and resolves issues with returned checks. Assumes back up responsibilities for receiving and preparing deposits. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounts receivable, accounts payable and/or bank reconciliation records. Reconciles report discrepancies and problems. Orders and maintains appropriate level of office supplies, and keeps supply cabinets organized. Maintains building security, answers phone calls, assists customers, and performs routine and varied clerical duties as required. Must be detail oriented and able to be bonded. Performs other duties as assigned. Requires: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and two – three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate degree in Accounting preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software. Knowledge of ONESolution financial software helpful.
